Blues Skies Hospital Fund Charity Walk 18 August 2019

On Sunday 18 August 2019 some members of our took part in a charity walk in aid of Blue Skies Hospital Fund who this year, is our company charity.

'Walk the One' was an 11 and a half-mile trek along the service 1 bus route from Starr Gate to Fleetwood Ferry. All of the team completed the walk and raised over £800 for the charity who support all levels of patient care at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

Two members of the team had both received lift saving surgery from Mr Andrew Duncan, a cardiac surgeon at Blackpool Victoria Hospital who also joined them on the walk.

Who are Blue Skies?

Every year we look to support a local charity by hosting events, volunteering, fundraising and more. Our company charity for 2019, as voted by our teams is the Blue Skies Hospitals Fund. 

Blue Skies Hospitals Fund is the only charity dedicated to enhancing patient care for Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The charity and their supporters help to:

  • Enhance the abilities of medical staff through education and training
  • Procure the latest medical equipment to diagnose patients rapidly and accurately
  • Develop medical research breakthroughs that will benefit future patients
  • Improve the environments where patients and visitors are cared for and where staff and volunteers are located
